SFI Complexity GAINs retrospective
SFI is fantastic. Now that I have gotten that statement out of the way, I'd like to dig in a little more. First, I'll explain the premise of the school, the layout, and then I'll talk a little about my specific experience. Up front though I will say if you have the chance to go to any program SFI puts on, do it.
The complexity GAINs school is put on by the Santa Fe Institute and has a different theme every year. This year was led by Dr. David Krakauer and the theme was intelligence and representation. We examined what is really meant by the word representation and tried to differentiate it from simpler correlation between the internals of a system and its environment.
I plan to write more about this in the future.
